healthy worship

What to expect when you come to worship:
practices for health and safety

Welcome! We are glad you asked.
We know that there are those in our church and in our community who are continuing to be cautious about the spread of COVID and other viruses. The following description will let you know what about our precautions (as of November 2022), as well as our general worship practices. If you have further questions, please call (908) 647-0067 or email allstsmill@hotmail.com.
  • Ventilation - our building is equipped with ultra-violet sanitizing lights in our HVAC system. This runs during every worship service.
  • Masks are recommended, especially when singing, but not currently required. Any change to this policy will be based on information from the CDC about virus levels and infections in our locality.
  • Our choir wears masks while singing.
  • Our clergy and eucharistic ministers wear masks while distributing Communion. Readers and preachers are not masked in order to make it easier for the congregation to hear them.
  • Communion is distributed this way:
    • The congregation comes to the front step in a single line; the ushers will tell you when it is your turn.
    • Standing in front of the priest, put your hands out (palms up) to receive the Host/Bread/Communion wafer. You may consume the Bread immediately and then step in front of the eucharistic minister with the Chalice (wine) and take a small sip from it. The rim will then be wiped clean, and the Chalice turned to be offered to the next person. Then return to your seat.
    • If you prefer to receive the Wine by intinction (dipping), step over in front the of the eucharistic minister, holding up your Bread on your open palm. The minister will then pick up your wafer, dip it in the wine for you, and put it back on your palm. You may then consume your wafer and return to your seat.
    • If you choose to receive only the Bread and not the Wine, please know that all the benefits of the Sacrament are conveyed to you.
    • If you prefer not receive Communion at all, you are invited to come forward, cross your arms across your chest, and the priest will give you a blessing.
    • If you have difficulty with mobility and need to receive Communion in your seat, please tell the usher and the priest and eucharistic minister will come to you.
We hope that this outline answers some of your questions about our current worship practices at All Saints’ Church. We look forward to meeting you and having you worship with us.

Blessings, Vicki+
