All Saints’ Announcements
Funeral for Bonnie Stocker McGrath is Saturday, June 26, at 2pm. Please register to attend here: https://rsvp.church/r/bloP83YN. Masks will be required inside the building at all times as well as during the service.  If you are not able to attend in person, please feel free to attend via  Zoom. Sunday Refreshments after the 10am service outdoors on the Church lawn (weather permitting). There will be a sign-up sheet to host each week. Something simple and easy to serve without people crowding around the table - iced tea, lemonade, cookies, etc.

Family Promise: Monday, July 19 – this is the date All Saints’ will be sharing in this shelter ministry to unhoused families in Morris County. We provide dinner and breakfast. Afsaneh Thursfield will be putting out more information shortly, but save the date to participate in this ministry.

Look for the tents!! The All Saints’ Annual Rummage Sale will be held in person and outside on Saturday October 2nd this year. We are looking for volunteers to donate, haul, price, and sell rummage. We are looking for volunteers to make and sell baked goods. We are looking for volunteers to set up and clean up. This is an “all hands on deck” event and our biggest fundraiser of the year!! Donations of clean, usable items will begin being accepted on Sunday August 1st. If you have any questions, please contact Kimberly Celeste.

Parish History Research Group - Bishop Hughes has called together a committee to look into the racial history of our diocese in order to better understand what was happening at key moments in our diocesan life. She has also invited parishes to investigate their own history. Carol Berry has taken on this task here at All Saints’ for our own learning and understanding. If anyone is interested in being part of this project, please speak with Carol.

Bible Study will not meet this Wednesday, June 23. We will pick up next week on 6/30 with Ruth, Chapter 2. To participate in this Zoom class, e-mail Mother Vicki: allsaints_rector@hotmail.com.

Join us on Thursday at 11am for “Office Angels” Zoom. All are welcome to join us and chat, email us if you would like the Zoom login: allsaints_church@hotmail.com

Christian Practices ~ Prayer (3)
From the Catechism of the Book of Common Prayer
Q. For what do we offer thanksgiving?
A. Thanksgiving is offered to God for all the blessings of this life, for our redemption, and for whatever draws us closer to God.

Q. What is penitence?
A. In penitence, we confess our sins and make restitution where possible, with the intention to amend our lives.

Thanksgiving and penitence may seem to be opposite types of prayer, and yet they are closely related. They both have their roots in humility before God and our fellow human beings.

We give thanks to God because we know that everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God; not because we deserve those gifts, but because God is so generous, and it is God’s good pleasure to give us what we need. And so, we offer God our humble thanks.

Penitence is not possible without humility. We need to set aside our prideful ego when we have sinned by our action, offense, or omission. Not only do we have to admit to God and to others that we were wrong – we have to admit it to ourselves. Sometimes that is the most humbling thing of all. But is we can’t admit our own mistakes and fallibility, our penitence will never be genuine. The rifts between us and God, between us and others, and within our own soul will only continue to grow.
For what are you giving thanks this week? Where might you need to pray for forgiveness?

Blessings, Vicki+
