This is the unofficial start of summer. I hope that you are able to take some time this weekend for relaxation and refreshment whether that is at the shore, on a hike, a trip to the city, or in your own backyard! As we go into the weekend, and into summer, there are two things I would ask of you:
- First, as this is Memorial Day weekend, find some time to remember, reflect on, and offer thanks to God for all those who gave their lives in our country’s service, and think about how our lives can be lived in a way that honors their effort and sacrifice on behalf of peace in God’s world.
- Second, as the summer takes you many different places, please remember to pray for All Saints’ Church. We are very good at praying for each other’s needs and support, but it is important to pray for the parish as a whole – for our faithfulness, vitality, and for our work of living and sharing the Gospel. Your prayers add so much. Thank you!

A Prayer for Memorial Day
Almighty God, we remember those who have laid down their lives in the armed services of our country. We thank you for those who have sacrificed their lives in the cause of freedom and justice. We pray for military families who have mourned their father and mothers, daughters and sons. We pray for those who have returned home from war wounded in mind, body, and spirit, that they may know your grace. We pray for real peace in this world, that governments be based upon justice, the common good, and respect for the rights of all. We pray that charity replace hatred, that wisdom replace greed, and that forbearance replace aggression. Amen.
