November 11 at 4 pm - A Service of Peace & Remembrance:
the Centenary of the End of World War I
Come for a service of readings, music, and prayers in remembrance of the end of World War I, and as a commitment to peace in God’s world. And if you have family photos or other memorabilia from WWI bring them to the service a little early and we’ll be able to display them on the day.
And at our Sunday morning worship we’ll ring the tower bell at 11:00 am, as the World War I Centennial Commission has asked all houses of worship to do. The armistice went into effect on November 11, 1918 at 1:00 am, Paris time – “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month.” When our church bell rings, wherever we are in the service, we’ll pause for a moment of silence to remember those who served in that great conflict.
Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, Nov. 22 at 10 am. Celebrate Thanksgiving with a simple, intimate service of Communion and Hymns. Gather with friends and fellow parishioners to give thanks to God for all the blessings of this life. Put the turkey in the oven and then come on over!
PARISH LIFE
Grateful Gathering: Murder Mystery Dinner Night! November 17, 6 pm in the Parish Hall. Please RSVP by Monday – either by the Punchbowl invitation or via email. Cost is $12 per person. Entreés and soft drinks provided; you bring an appetizer or dessert; BYOB wine or beer. Table teams will work together to solve the mystery of a murder drama titled: Thou Shalt Not Kill, set in an English country church! We’ll need help setting up on the day and cleaning up. Please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex if you can help! See you there!

CHRISTIAN PRACTICES
The Seven Practices of the Way of Love:
Turn, Learn, Pray, Worship, Bless, GO, Rest
GO is the sixth spiritual practice in The Way of Love: Cross boundaries, listen deeply and live like Jesus. As Jesus went to the highways and byways, he sends us beyond our circles and comfort, to witness to the love, justice, and truth of God with our lips and with our lives. We go to listen with humility and to join God in healing a hurting world. We go to become Beloved Community, a people reconciled in love with God and one another.
For Discernment and Reflection
- To what new places or communities is the Spirit sending you to witness to the love, justice, and truth of God?
- How will you build into your life a commitment to cross boundaries, listen carefully, and take part in healing and reconciling what is broken in this world?
- With whom will you share in the commitment to go forth as a reconciler and healer?
Blessings, Vicki+
