 Dear Friends in Christ,

10 am – Holy Eucharist, Rite II – with music: hymns, organ & piano, Adult Choir, Junior Choir. Sunday School for PreK-Grade 8 at 10 am; Nursery care, also.
11:15 am – Welcome Sunday Hot Dog Picnic at the Parish House.  Please bring a salad, side dish       or dessert to share.  And we still need hot dog grillers! If you can help, please call the Rector ASAP!

Please read the following pastoral news, and then see the announcements below:

In the last week we’ve learned that over the summer there were some deaths in our wider parish family.  Ken Gorny’s mother Wanda died, as did Randy Gaulke’s mother Dolores.  Both women had been in declining health for quite some time, so while their deaths were sudden, they were not unexpected.  Please extend your condolences to Randy and Ken and their families.

Some of you remember that two years ago Ted Moody, jr. had a very serious accident and was on our prayer list for a long time.  Two weeks ago Ted died of complications from that accident.  While he had grown up at Meyersville Presbyterian Church, his children Scarlett and Wesley were baptized here at All Saints’, and members of the Moody family were amongst the founders of this parish.  Ted’s memorial service will be at Meyersville Presbyterian on Sunday, September 16 at 1 pm.

All three of these people will be remembered in our prayers tomorrow ~ May they rest in peace and rise in glory.

Got Rummage? We welcome furniture, house wares, linens, tools, electronics, small appliances, toys, games, children’s books, yard & garden items, jewelry, boutiques items. Remember we CAN NOT accept clothes, tires, books for grown-ups and those big tube TVs.  All donations must be clean and in good repair.  Please also let your neighbors know - we could use some more donations! Rummage Sale is Saturday, September 22.

You are welcome to drop items inside the Parish House upper level on Sundays during “church hours”, 8 am-Noon+ and also the following times:
Monday, Sept 10th 7:00-8:30pm
Thursday, Sept 13th 6:30-8:00pm

Also, you may drop off anytime the church office is open.
Stop by and Susie or Vicki will be happy to open the Parish House for you.
Last day for Rummage Drop off is Sunday, September 16th.

Bake Sale at RUMMAGE 2012 - BAKERS and SELLERS NEEDED to help at the bake sale table and/or bake an item or two for sale. Both large items (cakes, pies, breads, etc.) and small buy-and- eat-on-the-spot items (cookies, brownies, cupcakes, muffins, etc.) are popular. Please mark items with any ingredients (eg. nuts) which may be problematic for people with allergies. Baked items should be wrapped and priced and can be delivered to the bake sale table any time after 8:00 am. Thank you for your help! Question-please speak to Carol Berry or call at 908-580-0642.

Grow Your Faith - this fall there will be two opportunities for Bible Study, both on Wednesdays.
The daytime group meets at 10:15 am in the Narthex; our topic for the fall will be the Book of Hebrews from the New Testament.
The evening group meets on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month at 7:45 pm in the Rath House; we’ll be reading the book of Genesis from the Old Testament.
Both groups welcome Bible Study newbies and old-timers alike. Bring a Bible with you or we can provide you with one. Learn more about your faith in the company of others who are learning and growing.

Mid-Week Worship starts this week! All are a chance for quiet, for prayer, for re-connecting, for listening to God.
     Holy Eucharist and Healing Prayer:
     Wednesdays at 9:30 am and
Thursdays at 7:00 am (followed by a light breakfast).

Evening Prayer on Wednesdays at 7:15 pm
(on the 2nd and 4th weeks of the month).

Women's Book Group – is a relaxed group, open to all women of the parish.  We have lively discussions of books that we read, and the group chooses the selection each month. We will reconvene on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 pm in the Rath House. The book for discussion is “Little Bee” by Chris Cleave. Hope to see you there.

We Need Acolytes to serve at the altar during 10 am Sunday and special feast day services (carrying the cross and torches in the procession, assisting the priest in setting up the altar for Communion, etc.); acolytes serve once a month (less often if we have a bigger pool); kids in Grade 7 and older can serve as acolytes – so can interested adults! You’ll get training before you start. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, speak to Janice Lettieri.

Calling All Singers! Junior Choir, for kids in Grade 3 and up, rehearses Thursdays at 5 pm. Adult Choir rehearses on Thursday at 7:30 pm. Rehearsals are in the choir room (in the Undercroft/lower level of the Church).  We’d love to have you share your gifts, make new friends, learn new skills and serve God and the church community through music ministry. Choir Questions? Speak to Dr. Jody or e-mail her at drjodydoktor@gmail.com.

All Saints’ Community Art Show – save the date: October 14th!  We will be hosting our first annual show at the Parish House, for adults and children. If you would like to be part of the show or have questions, contact Nancy Mink mink88@verizon.net .

Summer Pledges – often in the summer our pledge income lags a bit as people travel or are on vacation.  This summer was no different; we are about $2500 behind as of August 31st.  If you can get caught up in the next several weeks, it would be a big help.  Thanks so much!

Margin Retreat with Dr. Richard Swenson at the Convent of St. John Baptist in Mendham – October 13th.  Registration details are on our website.

All God’s Children at All Saints’ Starting in October - All God’s Children is a non-denominational Christian worship service designed to appeal to children of any age, and especially appropriate for children with autism, PDD-NOS, ADHD, ADD, Down’s Syndrome or any other developmental/physical challenges.  It is 30 minutes long, with optional Communion.  We’ll be offering an All God’s Children (AGC) service monthly on the third Sunday of every month, at 12 noon, starting on October 21.  This will be not just for parish families, but for anyone in the wider community.  If you know a family who might be interested in this time for worship and fellowship, please let them know about it.  We’ll be making the information available to some of the schools and support groups in the area.  There will also be opportunities for high school students (and adults) to volunteer – we’ll need some extra hands!  If you want to know more or would like to get involved, speak to Kathy Hunt or Mother Vicki+.  And please keep this ministry in your prayers.  Thanks!

Stewardship ~ is what we do with the gifts God has given us.
+ + + + + + + + +
The work of salvation, in its full sense, is (1) about whole human beings, not merely souls; (2) about the present, not simply the future; and (3) about what God does through us, not merely what God does in and for us.  - N.T. Wright, former Bishop of Durham, UK.

Blessings,
Vicki McGrath+
