BUILDINGS & GROUNDS
Church Windows Conditions Report – a copy of the report about the church windows is available to be read in the Narthex. It details the needed work on the altar window and rhe large window behind the organ. The photo display in the Narthex will give you some of the highlights. The report also gives an overveiw of the conditions of the smaller side windows. The assesment was made by Brianne Kozlowski of Liberty Stained Glass in Freehold. LSG will not do the work, but has made recommendations about reputable contractors in New Jersey. The Vestry is grateful for Brianne’s guidance and expertise as we launch out into what will be a multi-year effort for fund-raising and restoration.
Rectory News – on March 15 our new tenants will move into the Rectory at 37 Northfield Road in Millington. Our realtor Beth Lohner of Weighert in Morristown has been great to work with and was able to get us some good tenants. Thank you, Beth.
Shop-Rite Donations - We have received a $3500 grant from Shop-Rite in Stirling on our account at the Community FoodBank, to support our food ministry. In addition, the Stirling is awarding us $500 directly to use in our Twelve Baskets Food Pantry & Food Ministry. That check will be presented to us in the store on March 13 at 10:30 am as part of their Partners in Caring awards. Please plan to be there for the brief event and photos. Wear your All Saints’ polo shirt or a church apron. Thank you, Shop-Rite, for your genrous support!

TURN - The practice of TURNING is, of course, about repentence; about turning to Christ for forgiveness and a fresh start. But turning is also be about facing God when we finally realize that we are running on empty and we need God’s help to even take the next step in life.
Michael Gerson, the Washington Post columnist and former speech writer for President George W. Bush, preached last Sunday at Washington National Cathedral about such a turn. Mr. Gerson struggles with depression, and was recently hospitalized for his condition. He turned for help to God and to people who care about him. He speaks very movingly of his Christian faith – not in spite of his depression, but in the midst of it: “At the end of all our striving and longing we find, not a force, but a face. All language about God is metaphorical. But the metaphor became flesh and dwelt among us.”
On Tuesday night Mr. Gerson was interviewed on PBS Newshour about his sermon. This link will take you to the Newshour website which contains a video of the twelve-minute sermon, a print version of it, and a video of his interview with Judy Woodruff. The sermon is full of wisdom, compassion, and faith. As it happens, Mr. Gerson is an Episcopalian.
I hope that you will be helped in your own turning to God in times of stress and need by these reflections.
